Waste sorting

The dormitory has four waste containers — for packaging, paper, biowaste and mixed household waste. Please pay close attention to putting rubbish in the correct container. Just one careless bag placed in the wrong container is enough to undo the whole building's sorting effort — a container full of sorted waste gets contaminated and no longer qualifies as sorted. If you're not sure what kind of waste something is, or you'd rather not sort it, put it in the mixed household waste container!

• Clean your packaging — everything collected separately from household waste should be clean, rinsed if needed, and dry. Dirty packaging and paper belong in mixed waste.

• Sort by material — only put clean, dry paper and cardboard in the paper/cardboard container.

• Juice cartons, tetra packs, plastic bags, bottles, jars and similar (once free of food waste) count as packaging.

• Everything else — including plastic milk pouches, foil crisp packets, food waste or soiled rubbish — is mixed household waste.

• Flatten your packaging — fold down cardboard boxes, juice cartons and the like so they take up less room in the container.

• Biowaste — solid, biodegradable kitchen waste, loose, in a biodegradable waste bag, or in a paper bag. Never put liquid or non-biodegradable waste in it.

Many battery components are toxic and hazardous, whether they end up in nature or sitting forgotten in a drawer at home. In the dormitory, you can drop off old batteries in the labelled boxes at the building's administration office.
